Family time

February 22, 2012

It was Family Day here the other day, all the stores and businesses closed up. The funny thing is my husband doesn’t normally get to have this day off, but because of parental leave, we got to spend this day together. It was gorgeous outside, so we bundled the girls up and drove out to a nearby forest for a walk. Unfortunately Tallinn is getting older and unable to hop up into the trunk, his usual spot. We used to fold one of the back seats down so he could crawl in through having steps to get up, but the last two weeks we’ve had both girls in their full car seats (Nerys being too big now for an infant seat), so no more folding back a seat. Not until Ezri moves up into a booster seat that can easily be removed. For now HE gets to ride shotgun, while I get to sit in the trunk (our car has extra seats that pop up from the trunk, but it means I have to crawl in through the back). The walk was short as I didn’t realize how steep the ups and downs of the forest path were. And I really didn’t want to slip while carrying Nerys on my back in the amauti. Although the trip was short, it was still nice to get out. Plus we freaked out a few people with our matching amautis, they just didn’t know what to make of them. In typical big city fashion, people where very willing to share strange looks, but never have the courage to ask what your wearing.

Your photos as usual are amazing and it was lovely to see the dog, its been a long time! And I too love how Ezri was carrying her own baby… (I’m the type of person that definitely would have asked what your outerwear was all about if I didn’t know. I was just telling a friend the other day about how the northern’s carry their little ones :)

Wow what great photos. My girls are so cute in their amauti, and what a impressive daddy. I love the look on Tallin’s face. “Finally my humans know where I belong.”

Those matching amautis are too cute! I stumbled on your blog while trying to find someone who can make a summer amauti for us. Maybe the vest style. Would you mind sharing who made yours?

Thanks for checking out my blog! My amauti was made be a local lady while we lived up north. My daughters amauti I got actually by joining a FB group and getting into contact with local ladies after we had moved down south. I’ll have to make a post with my vest amauti too!
